The Centro de Investigação Tecnológica do Algarve (CINTAL) is a no-profit research organization founded in 1990 with the objective of providing a link within the innovation chain between fundamental research as a source of knowledge and practical application as the use of knowledge which can be commercially exploited. SiPLAB is part of CINTAL, which emphasis is on underwater acoustic signal processing, ocean acoustics and underwater communications. SiPLAB has approximately 19 researchers: 6 senior researchers, 1 postdoc, 4 PhD students and 7 engineers and one biologist. CINTAL/SiPLAB participated or coordinated a number of technological oriented projects at natinal, European and international level.
