Instituto Superior Técnico is part of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, a premium engineering, science, and technology school in Portugal that integrates competences from all fields of engineering and fundamental sciences. The core of the work planned in the scope of this initiative will be done at the research center Institute for Systems and Robotics (IST/ISR-Lisboa), devoted to research and development on Information and Communication Technologies, including Marine Robotic Systems. By bringing together theory and practice, IST/ISR-Lisboa has pioneered the design, development, and at sea testing of algorithms for geophysical navigation and cooperative motion planning, control, and navigation of multiple autonomous marine robots.
