Created in 1973, the University of Aveiro (UAVR) quickly became one of the most dynamic and innovative Portuguese universities. UAVR is a highly regarded institution of research-led education, formed by university departments, research units, polytechnic schools, interface units, and a vocational education network. CESAM – Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies, one of UAVR research units with the “Associate Laboratory” label, aims to foster impactful research and innovation and promote a knowledge-based, sustainable economy; it gathers a multidisciplinary team with broad range of expertise and competences to tackle complex challenges on environmental and marine sciences from regional to global scales.
